    The 131 Method is about learning to phase the way you eat. The book breaks down each phase. You will ignite your metabolism, restore your gut health, and lose weight all through the process. The best part is, you get to become the scientist and learn about your own body. You start realizing what foods are causing you inflammation and bloating. You become the expert at knowing, if I eat this then my body will feel this way.

    This book gives you the power to decide what food to eat. Take back control of your life and stop dieting. Educate yourself about your body.

    No one diet is perfect for everyone. Each person reacts differently. You may mbe able to eat one thing but your spouse cannot. That's why the 131 Method is essential to read. Let the 131 Method help you live your best life.
  • I love Chalene’s honesty. She goes into her story but also tells you that every body is different. This is not a one fits all diet. This is a lifestyle change to get healthy not get skinny. Do your own research but she’s done the hard part. It’s not a eat less, move more approach. It’s a get smart about your body and learn how it works approach. Give it time.
  • Chalene Johnson returns to writing with her newest project, 131 Method. Her goal with this project is to empower everyone with their diets and end the never-ending cycle of diet-gain-gain more-diet and repeat.
    She broaches this in three phases (hence the 3 in 131) to recover gut health, hormones, appetite, and end the battle of the bulge and bloat.
    Johnson's strength lies in her conversational tone. Her approach comes across as a friend over coffee (probably bullet-proof) instead of coming across as preachy or superior. She has boiled down her research very well and into layman's terms. She gives you what you need, not a bunch of scientific jargon that makes most people's eyes glaze over.
    Negatives it does not give step-by-step instructions to go through the phases, however, this is for a good purpose. Readers are encouraged, or really REQUIRED to experiment with their diets to find what works for them and their health, instead of generalities that have still resulted in massive obesity.
    The recipes are amazing, surprisingly a hit with my meat and potatoes husband and chicken tender and pizza children.
    I haven't gone through all the phases, but I've lost five pounds and kept it off. (doesn't sound like much, but I got tired of gaining and losing the same five pounds.)
    Keep an open mind through this and get comfortable experimenting.

    Chalene Johnson should win an award for this book! The amount of research, guidance, and language simplicity is so incredibly helpful! I love how she breaks everything down and if you just work on changing your mindset to break old habits then you can honestly be saving your own life with the learning in this book.

    Cons (if you even wanna call them that)
    1. It takes a positive mindset to change your habits
    2. This is not a diet! This is how I live my life now and yes, totally a struggle at first, but I got it. It finally clicked when I realized I don’t need someone to tell me when/what to eat all the time. I just designed it on my own and went with my gut....literally.

    1. Easy to follow recipes (even for this girl that use to burn everything!) see photos
    2. You CANT mess this up! It’s a learning experience and the subject is your body! Go through it and find out what’s best for you
    3. There is a whole online program you can join with support, additional recipes and a TON of resources for you to do your research
    4. ALL the research is backed up by credible resources and facts. Best of all if you do this you will see and feel a difference
    5. It’s not a diet. People who don’t take the time to read and understand what the 131 is will argue with me on this until their face turns blue.
    6. It has CHANGED MY LIFE! Between this book and Chalene’s podcast The Chalene Show, I have learned so much that I plan on passing down for generations to come.

    Thank you Chalene and the team of magical people who put this together. It really is revolutionary on the industry.

    Pro Tip save yourself the agony (unlike me my first go around) Do your research, read, and JUST TRUST THE PROCESS. It’s science. It will work.
