Presidential aspirant South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg poses the question "What would my next-door neighbors think of all this?" in his political autobiography Shortest Way Home. In Home Alone, E. Michael Jones, who has lived with his family on the very block where Buttigieg grew up since before Buttigieg was born, answers that question, and his answer is devastating. For "virtually every ... claim in [his] book, the facts stubbornly resist the paradigm Mayor Pete brings to bear to interpret them," writes Jones, as he picks apart the fallacies in Buttigieg's self-serving autobiography. After reading Home Alone, you'll never look at Buttigieg or his presidential hopes in the same way again.

"Buttigieg has a lot going for him and is a smart, articulate, thoughtful man whom I think will be a uniter in our fractured country. It's too bad the author of this book is so filled with bile. His antisemitic, homophobic points of view only serve to amplify his anger. Is he jealous? Vitriolic? Although it's good to get to know candidates for public office well, and of course no candidate is completely perfect, this is not the book for getting good, balanced information. If you're in the mood for a bigoted rant, go ahead. Otherwise this is not for thoughtful people who want to make well informed decisions at the ballot box. This author should take his opinion to the ballot box too rather than engaging in ad hominem attacks."

  • The author might have a point with some of the issues he brings up, but it's hard to know for sure since there are so many references made to Buttigieg's autobiography that are taken completely out of context.

For example, Jones claims that Buttigieg said he was "a victim of racism" when he never made such a statement. Instead, he mentioned not realizing until later in life that some parents weren't comfortable with their children visiting his childhood neighborhood because he lived "in the city." Buttigieg further stated that "if there was a racial layer to that phrase, I was too young to catch it." In other words, Buttigieg is clearly saying that he knows now that some people may have allowed racism (against POC) to believe that his neighborhood wasn't safe.

When such a spurious argument is made within the first few pages of a book, it seriously weakens the author's position and brings their credibility into question. This gets even worse when Jones uses anecdotal "evidence" about a third-hand encounter with Buttigieg's father as a way to try to knock Pete Buttigieg.

The entire purpose behind this book (which is little more than an angry tirade) is made clear when Jones bemoans the fact that his son, Adam Jones, isn't mentioned in Buttigieg's memoir. Adam Jones grew up three doors from Buttigieg and attended Harvard 10 years earlier than Mayor Pete. Somehow, this was supposed to be important enough to rate a mention in Buttigieg's book, despite Jones acknowledging the age difference between the two men and the fact that the families never associated with each other.

Even worse is Jones' claim that Buttigieg tells certain stories to "endear him to the maligned and disaffected ethnics who were too stupid or too poor to move to the suburbs." Yes, the author actually calls some of his fellow South Bend residents "too stupid."

Besides these complaints, the writing isn't terrible, although it is condescending and filled with phrases such as "whatever." Jones also used huge paragraphs throughout that don't make for a pleasant reading experience. All in all, if you're looking for a book that will teach you about Buttigieg (or one that contains real dirt about Buttigieg), this isn't it.

On a side note, the author’s other works and book descriptions provide a disturbing look at his thought process. In one book description, he argues that “a Christian must be anti-Jewish.” If I had noticed that before reading Home Alone, I would have known exactly what to expect. This type of hateful commentary has no place in today’s world.
  • While the writer is clearly articulate in his delivery, the tone seems fueled by the author's anger for Pete Buttigieg's quick climb as a potential presidential candidate. What an angry neighbor says should be given no credence unless he has valid criticisms of Pete or his policies. Clearly, the Mayor has different perspectives.

  • Not too long ago, I began to see Mayor Pete emerge on various talk shows and such. As I watched each, it was apparent that this man was given softball interviews. The straw that broke the camel’s back for me occurred when Trevor Noah of the Daily Show unabashedly peddled this guy as a completely unblemished individual. This caused great alarm. When I was heavily steeped in the libertarian moment in 2008, this was exactly the type of interviews that Obama was afforded. The media presented Obama as an impeccable individual, a savior of America.

Obama and his politics created disenchantment within me toward political ideologies in general, for even libertarians fell for his suave orations. I withdrew from any political suppositions I once held. I turned off the news and entrenched myself in classical languages and histories. I began to see why so many of the masses fall for the political chicanery of vain men.

I began to research this Mayor Pete. I wanted to hear the other side of the story. It took a while, but I finally found Dr. E. Michael Jones’ writings and editorials. After also watching Dr. Jones’ dialogues with others online, I knew that this man was well-versed in the literature of history and in politics, both modern and old. I decided to purchase his short pamphlet on Mayor Pete. Dr. Jones’ findings confirmed what I suspected all along. Mayor Pete is indeed a paragon of vanity.

Dr. Jones’ exposé provides the necessary information for the reader to understand the gist of Mayor Pete’s background. The very fact that Pete was a Rhodes Scholar evinced that this man is a part of elite circles that care nothing for America nor its people, except maybe to gut the country and turn its people against each other. If anyone reading this does not know about Cecil Rhodes and his cabal, then I highly suggest you take the time and research. They don’t just give anyone Rhodes scholarships without certain oaths of fealty.

Mayor Pete’s childhood is an interesting turn in the narrative. His father was a Foucauldian professor at Notre Dame. The nefarious nature of Foucault’s intellect is apparent to any disabused reader. Dr. Jones briefly evinces that Pete’s father was not a real scholar; he was merely a promulgator of cultural Marxism hellbent on euthanizing the Christian culture of South Bend through political correctness. Like Foucault, once you make a pact with the devil, then you must do his bidding to subvert all that is good in the world.

Dr. Jones’ revealing narrative of Pete’s homosexuality is quite good. Having worked around homosexuals in the past, their narcissism is overbearing and quite nauseating. The world revolves around them; for those who deem otherwise, they are castigated and shamed with the regular dose of Marxist epithets racist, bigot, homophobe, etc. With that stated, it is my hope that individuals will seek to stay informed of the madness that has beset our country. Now with Trump calling for the legalization of homosexuality worldwide, these types will be unleashed upon our communities and upon our children.

Dr. Jones’ pamphlet is short and worth the time. Information like this is needed for voters to ascertain the true character of those desiring to lead. Or should I say rule? Don’t let another unvetted dark horse take the reigns of America!
  • Lefties always portray the other side as bigoted. But what if they are the bigger bigots ? No one is perfect and this guy is a “made man” by the mainstream media.
